Henri Golay Building
Av. Henri Golay - Vernier, Switzerland
The project has a social, ecological and cost effective approach, in order to provide low cost and high quality housing. The project comprises two six storiesbuildings, whose plan is organized around staircases that distribute to the maximum number of apartmentsin order to optimize and reduce construction costs.
The construction principle of the buildings is simple yet effective. Balconies and loggias have been removed in order to simplify construction and keep costs low. However, in orderto bring the "outside" into the flats, a system of prefabricated glazing is mounted directly onto the loadbearing peripheral wall, in the desire to create a visual connection between the residential spaces and the remarkable site. These glazing, whichappear as screens, are the "garden windows" for the inhabitants.
