Mont-Blanc avenue building
Quai du Mont-Blanc 4, Geneva, Switzerland
The original building was built in the 1950s. It’s part of an urban framework called « the Mont-Blanc quadrangle », situated on a picturesque site on the banks of lake Leman.
A tree-filled courtyard livens up the heart of the urbanized area.
The 8-floor building is devoted to appartments and offices. The project consists of fully renovated commercial and administrative spaces and the addition of residential spaces thanks to the construction of 2 penthouse flats.
Commercial arcades have been redesigned in order to take advantage of their dual orientation, opening onto « rue du Mont-Blanc » on one side and onto the outside courtyard on the other side.
The fully glazed lift is the central piece of the building’s inner courtyard. It maximizes light coming from above and augments the inner courtyard’s spatial quality.
The character of the original facades is maintained. All the windows have been replaced to improve the thermal and sound insultation of the offices and dwellings.
