CEVA train station - HUG tunnel
Avenue Beau-Séjour - Geneva, Switzerland
The proposed pedestrian connection between the future regional railway stop (CEVA-Cornavin, Eauxvives-Annemasse) and the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG), aims to exploit the potential of this train station by improving accessibility to these 2 destinations, and in the process improve the attractiveness of this path, especially for disabled people.
The connecting tunnel has two segments: a newly built part and an existing one. The new part startsat the CEVA train station and then connects to an existing tunnel that was originally a cheese cellar.
The cellar has a stonework vaulted shape and leads to the Beau-séjouravenue which is directly connected to the HUG below. The renovationof this unusual place and our respect for its original appearance, form the basis for the architectural concept and the development of the tunnel.
